From the Weekend | After the storm

Monday, February 10, 2014

Last Wednesday, a severe ice storm hit the Philadelphia region.  Trees fell, power lines went down, and thousands were left without power through the weekend (As of Monday morning, 18,000 homes are still without power!).  Dayv and I were incredibly lucky, only losing cable and internet for a few days.

On Saturday, my mom and I took a walk with our pups around the neighborhood.  It was the first time since the storm that I was able to really see the damage that was done.  Never before have I seen trees split in half.  People are doing their best to recover, even with the temperatures never rising above 30 degrees F.  This winter has not been kind to the Northeast, and I hope for everyone's sake that the worst is over.

Happy Monday!

  1. I'm glad you and Dayv only lost cable and internet for a few days. Based on your photos, it could have been much worse. This winter has been...a lot. I'm at that point where I'm just trying to put my head down and push through it, although it is a good excuse to cozy up on the couch with a book or movie. February is probably my least favorite month, but fingers crossed March is a bit warmer/less icy.

  2. I am so glad that you did not loose all of your power. My family lost power for a few day and had to go somewhere else. This has been a crazy winter.
