From the Weekend | Mina's spring haircut

Monday, March 10, 2014

This weekend, I started tackling my list of "things-I-really-don't-feel-like-doing-but-must-force-myself" tasks.  Some of the items included deep cleaning the carpet in the living room and dining room (I really know how to party on Saturday night), steaming the curtains, and....cutting Mina's hair.

Mina was getting to the point (which occurs every year) where her bangs get super long and she gets incredibly dirty after every walk and requires a bath.  I try to hold off as long as possible, since the weather is still pretty unpredictable, plus, I have Dayv and my mom both telling me I should wait until it gets warmer.  But, on Saturday, it was almost 60 degrees and I just decided it was time.

To be honest, Mina hates getting her haircut, but actually does not put up much of a fight.  I'm very grateful to have such a docile and forgiving pup.  Whenever she does start pulling away, I always tell her that I hate it more than she does.  My back kills from hunching over and reaching out for an hour and a half, and my butt and thighs ache from sitting cross legged on the kitchen floor.  But, after it's all said and done, I am always happy since Mina looks so tiny and cute.  She always gets so excited after a hair cut, and prances around the house, showing off.  It's the best.

Happy Monday!

  1. Aaaw, look how tiny she is under all her fur! She's probably more comfortable now she can see properly. I sometimes think we should clip Alfie in the summer as he must be hot with his thick coat but apparently you're not supposed to with his breed.

  3. I am impressed that you cut Mina's hair on your own. Jason and I tried to cut Swede's hair once and it was the worse two hours of all of our lives and swede turned out looking like an abused street dog. We take her to professionals now. :)

  8. YAY for spring haircuts....with all the mud and salt/sand from the winter, can't blame you for wanting to get it done sooner rather than later!
