From the Weekend | Father's Day

Monday, June 16, 2014

Part of me wants to tell you about the ridiculousness of yesterday, including a $354 emergency plumbing bill, my pure exhaustion and inability to complete simple tasks such as driving, and the beautiful brunch I envisioned hosting for my parents turning into me driving to their house with my Belgian waffle maker and waffle batter to salvage some sort of variation of the morning I had planned.

Instead, I'll share with you the beautiful and delicious oatmeal chocolate chunk Belgian waffles, topped with sliced bananas and maple syrup, that I prepared for my parents.  It was my way, albeit tiny and incomparable to their generosity, love, and encouragement, to show how much I love and appreciate them.

Happy Monday!

  1. Oh, no! I'm sorry to hear that things went so wrong. Unexpected bills are the worst! But I'm glad there were at least waffles at the end of it and that you have such wonderful parents.

  2. That sounds like a very stressful weekend. I hope you were able to find time to relax by the end of it. Don't worry, brunch does not have to be extravagant. I am sure those oatmeal chocolate chunk Belgian waffles were delicious!
