Vegan Cuts Monthly Beauty Box | Review

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Cruelty-free beauty has become very popular over the last few years and I couldn't be happier.  Gone are the days where I had to shed my favorite chemical-laden hair spray due to animal testing and search high and low for an affordable, high quality, and reliable mascara.  I can paint my nails and not have to worry about all of the carcinogens that were once non-negotiable ingredients in nail polish.  Wonderful things are happening for our community and it is truly exciting.

Beauty boxes have also become quite popular recently and it feels like I learn about a new one each week.  Vegan Cuts, which originally began curating monthly snack boxes, took the leap last July and started to offer a monthly beauty box, filled with vegan and cruelty-free products.  I was super excited to learn about this product and eager to try it out.

My Vegan Cuts May Beauty Box was filled with:

Skinagain Vanish | A body lotion that promises to reduce cellulite, stretch marks, and scars.  I did apply this lotion but cannot say for sure whether its claims are true.  However, I can say that it is a creamy, but not greasy, formula that is moisturizing and fragrance-free.

Sevi Blue yarrow sea salt texturizer | This texturizer provides a light hold, which works well to create a more "natural" look.  However, it does not make your waves/curls super sculpted or work very well in humid weather.  I recommend it for people with hair that is controllable and not prone to frizz, and live in climates that are not super hot and/or humid.

Lauren Brooke lash lengthening mascara | I wore this mascara to a wedding and on a normal work day.  The product creates a natural looking, longer lash and works well for casual situations indoors.  However, if you are planning on being outside in the heat/humidity, dancing, or spending a few hours baking in a hot kitchen, this mascara may not work best for you.  It has a tendency to smudge.

Tallulah Jane fragrance in Halona | This is a very light and refreshing citrusy scent, which I found very lovely.  Unfortunately, it does not last very long, so it needs to be reapplied during the day.

Sunny Body natural sunscreen | I have not tried this product yet, but am interested to see how it works.  It is vegan, gluten-free, organic, and non-GMO, which is very exciting for a product with competitors that are often filled with chemicals and other gross ingredients.

Gourmet Body Treats raw finishing powder | I have also not tried this product yet since it is meant to be applied after foundation, which I do not wear.  However, after reading more about it on the product page, I may apply it to see if it evens out my skin tone.  The reviews are all very positive!

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is $19.95 a month with free shipping.  You will receive 4-7 products, which are all vegan, cruelty-free, and often natural and organic.  It's a great way to try new cosmetics and skincare brands without the financial commitment of purchasing full sized products.  You can subscribe here.

Disclaimer: I was given this product to review, but all of the thoughts and opinions expressed are completely my own.

  1. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on the sunscreen. Recently, I have been worried about using toxic chemicals on my skin and switched to the natural sunscreens. However, the ones I have tried are hard to rub in an smell funny.

    1. i've had the same experience in the past with all natural sunscreen. a couple of years ago at the beach, the sunscreen i was using left a thick white coating over my skin and looked like i was covered in chalk.

  2. oh i want to know more about the sunscreen. i desperately need a new one this summer.
    great review of the box!

  3. what great products! thanks for the heads up!
